Business Continuity - Maintenance

As with any piece of equipment, organisations often buy diesel generators and UPS systems to protect themselves from power cuts but then think that they will continue to work left on their own.

To ensure that your business operations are not affected, your power protection systems need to be serviced and maintained regularly. Let Business Continuity Systems ensure your power protection and leave you to manage your business.

Generator Maintenance

Maintenance

Standby generators should be serviced and maintained in accordance with the manufacturer's specification and requirements at least twice a year. At Business Continuity Systems, we can carry out these visits to ensure your diesel generator is in optimum condition for when you need it most.

Business Continuity systems not only offer semi-annual servicing but we also carry out reactive maintenance 24/7/365 with your choice of a 4 hour, 6 hour, 8 hour or next day response through our dedicated 24 hour helpline.

Uninterruptible Power Supply Maintenance

Uninterruptible Power Supply Maintenance

Uninterruptible power supplies are highly technical equipment, consisting of thousands of sensitive components such as DC and AC capacitors, fans and batteries. Your power will only be protected if these components are in good working order. Regular maintenance will monitor these components and ensure they are replaced before they fail.

Business Continuity Systems UPS maintenance contracts will give you total peace of mind.

To further highlight the importance of regularly maintaining your Power Protection system, consider the following scenario:

A UPS has not been regularly maintained and services. The mains power fails and the UPS automatically supports the load. However the batteries within the UPS fail to support the essential load for the expected time. The only solution is to replace the batteries.

Why did the batteries fail so prematurely, you may ask. It may be that a failure of one or more of the Direct Current (DC) capacitors has prematurely aged the batteries causing a severe reduction in their load supporting capacity. Had the UPS been regularly maintained (including thermal monitoring of the UPS and the batteries), the problem would have been identified and the components changed. This would not only have saved the cost of the replacement batteries but also the costs incurred due to the UPS failure when it was most needed.

So, if you have a UPS system, ask yourself what you would do if it were to fail. Do you have an alternative power system, for example, a standby generator? Does lack of space mean you have rejected the idea of a standby diesel generator? Or do you think it would be too expensive?

Business Continuity Systems - I have a brand new UPS, why do I need a maintenance contract?

Why do I need a maintenance contract?

It is true that there is always at least a one year's manufacturer's warranty with new uninterruptible power supply systems, which one would expect to offer protection in the event of any failure.

However, although the manufacturer will guarantee their equipment against failure, there is no guarantee as to the response time and how quickly the fault will be repaired. At best it might be next day (during working hours only).

Business Continuity Systems can carry out all servicing, maintenance and repair works and attend site within 4 hours ensuring your power protection is back up and running within the smallest of timescales.
